Patatsfontein Stay is a family-owned luxury glamping farm stay in the Patatsfontein Valley, about 25 minutes from Montagu on the R318 in the Western Cape Karoo. On our fourth-generation working farm, Patatsfontein Boerdery, we wanted to create a quiet place where guests can slow down, soak in a hot tub under the stars and wake up to nothing but birdsong and mountain views.
Our two adults-only glamping tents, Oakron and Aloeron, each offer a private wood-fired hot tub, open-plan interiors and uninterrupted views over the surrounding valleys. It’s simple, thoughtful comfort in the middle of nature – close enough to Montagu for an easy drive, but far enough to feel completely away from the world.
Patatsfontein Boerdery has been in our family for four generations. The rhythms of farm life, water, weather and seasons shape everything we do here. We are also proud members of the Pieterfontein Conservancy, working with our neighbours to protect the local biodiversity and look after the fynbos, succulents and wildlife that call this valley home.

The idea for Patatsfontein Stay was born after a series of severe hailstorms hit our farm within six days. Watching the damage made us realise we wanted to build something more resilient and life-giving on the land we love. Out of that season came the vision for a small, carefully held glamping retreat where guests could rest, reconnect and feel held by the mountains around them.
Days here are slow and unhurried. You can walk the farm roads, sit under the old oak trees, watch the light move across the hills or simply stay in the hot tub until the stars come out. If you feel like exploring, Montagu’s surrounding game reserves, hot springs, rock-climbing routes, markets and cafés are an easy day out from your tent.
